He also coached for his Alma Mater the University of Virginia women's team. Coach Smith has over 15 years of youth coaching experience at the Travel and High School levels at various age levels with Peninsula United, Phillips Select, Warwick, Denbigh and Falls Church High Schools. Mike holds a Regional Diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and holds two National Youth Soccer Coaches Association Certifications. He has over 4 years of coaching experience with the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO). Served as a Board Member and Team Director for 14 teams in AYSO. Mike also is a United States Soccer Federation (USSF) Grade 8 referee with three years experience in the Peninsula Adult Soccer League, U-17 and below divisions, and Virginia High School certified.

This is the third season for most of the players in the U11 age bracket having played on various teams last year for NNFC. Five played on the U10 Premier Gunners last year, one on the U10 Elite Hotspurs, and one on the U10 Premier Celtics. With a Second Place finish in the Busch Gardens Soccer Classic this fall, the Fall 2007 season promises to be an exciting one.
