Welcome to  the
Newport News FC Travel Soccer Club

Hello prospective and returning parents/players:

For almost a decade, Newport News FC has proven to be one of the best overall clubs in the State of Virginia and has been the most decorated club on the Virginia Peninsula. Since our creation, our teams have won more league and tournament championships than any other club on the Virginia Peninsula.

Starting at U9 we guide our players and teach the skills and tactical concepts that are age group appropriate so that as players and team age up they become complete players and can compete with the other top clubs in Virginia. Success in youth soccer takes time and Newport News FC is the believes that player development leads to success as proven by the success of our older players and teams.

During this past year our club had two of our long time player members named the 2010 Boys' and Girl's High School Players' of the Year in the Peninsula District and Metro Conference. Additionally, we helped over 10 players realize their dream of playing soccer in College.

What is unique about Newport News FC?

We are the only local professionally managed club in the area that believes in keeping our best players and teams together. We are not a feeder system to a larger club! We have proven that overtime our players excel guided by specialized player development system. For example, both of our Boys' and Girls' U18 and U17 Academy Elite teams finished the past season as Undefeated League Champions out scoring their opponents 75-14!

When it comes to coaching, no other club in the area offers the combination of experienced and licensed coaching staff we do. We have "A" and "B" licensed coaches, former professional and college players who have helped our Executive Staff design a complete club developmental program that is second to none.

When it comes to our league, our teams play in the 4th largest league in Virginia that has produced many State Champions and offers a variety of playing levels which allows our teams to learn to play quality attacking and defending soccer.

When it comes to tournaments, during this past year our Elite level teams participated in some of the most prestigious tournaments in the Country. Including the Jefferson Cup, rated the number one tournament in the National and Beach FC's Columbus Day tournament that hosts over 400 teams from all over the Nation. Additionally, our club provides opportunities for our older Elite teams participate in College Showcase tournaments. At the younger age levels, our players benefit from playing in our professionally managed club hosted tournaments. These tournaments, not only provide great competition on great facilities, such as Warhill Sports Complex in Williamsburg and the York County Sports Complex in Yorktown but they provide a quality tournament experience to our teams and players and while eliminating the need for overnight hotel stays and long drives.

When it comes to our program, we put the long term development of our players first. Our goal is not to be the largest club, just to be the best. We have offered one of the best programs in the State of Virginia for almost a decade and that is going to continue. One key to our program is educating parents/players, that winning games isn't as important at the younger ages (U9-U14) since no college or high school coach cares how many games your child won when she or he was 10.

At Newport News FC it is about building players who understand how to work as a team to build Championship teams. There is no substitute from learning from the best and Newport News FC has proven to the best in the area for almost a decade.

OUR YOUTH SOCCER SYSTEM

Academy Elite Teams: U16-U19

Our Academy Elite level teams are designed to select the best players on the Peninsula to compete against other best teams in the State. Our Academy teams attend Elite Tournaments and College Showcase Tournaments.

Tryouts for Academy Elite teams are scheduled for Saturday, May 14 and Saturday, May 21 from 9-11AM at Mary Passage Middle School in Newport News.

Elite Travel Teams: Girls & Boys ages U9 – U15

Our Elite Travel teams represent the best teams our club has to offer. They are comprised of the dedicated players with a passion for the sport. From U9-U12 our league offers 7v7 and 8v8 games designed to give players an opportunity to grow and mature. Individual player development is the main emphasis at these age levels. At U13-U15 these are the ages were players start preparing for high school play and they are given the most experienced coaches we have in our club.

Developmental Academy: Girls & Boys Ages 7-9

Our U9 Program is a scaled back version of our Travel Team program. The team trains together twice a week during the Fall and Spring Seasons. They also play approximately 7v7 games against other travel teams to prepare them for U10 play. The team also plays during in the Hampton Roads Indoor League.

Junior Academy: Girls & Boys Ages 4, 5 and 6

This is a free training program for younger players that focuses on skill development and introduction of beginning level soccer tactics.

In the previous example if they turned 10 July 31, they would be considered a U11 player.
