Busch Gardens Soccer Classic II

On August 27 & 28 our club will again host the Busch Gardens Soccer Classic. There are a few major changes from last year worth sharing. The first is that our club has secured the use of Warhill Soccer Complex in Williamsburg which will serve as the tournament headquarters - Warhill is considered on the finest facilities in Virginia. Another exciting change is that we opened competition to include U10-U14 girls teams and have already had the U10 Vista Blackwater register to join us. With an increase in marketing we anticipate the tournament to grow to well over 100 teams making it one of the largest tournaments on the East Coast.

The Newport News F.C. Pumas are the club's first U14 Girls Team. The team did extremely well in their first season and are working hard to create a winning tradition for themselves. According to their coach, the team is one of the hardest working teams he has had and
their passion to improve will be the key to future success. To learn more about the Pumas

Parents Matter - Playing Time
What do I do if my child is not
playing very much?
Unlike recreation soccer, playing time on Travel teams is not always equally shared. The coaches determine playing time based on developmental and team goals. This can sometimes be an issue for new travel parents because on the recreation team their child might have been the superstar and never came out of the game. If you child doesn't play as much as you would like, the club suggests contacting the coach to see if there are areas that your child needs to improve upon to play more. It is never a good idea to tell a coach your child is better than another or to take this personally. Every team practices 3 hours a week, which is when players must show the coach they are working hard and deserve to play.
