Winter Soccer Camp

Aside from the Indoor League, NNFC offers an annual NNFC Winter Soccer Camp. For those of you new to the club, this camp focuses on building tactical awareness and ball skill for individual players. Participants are grouped by their age, so it also has a team benefit for groups of players coming from the same squad. Once again, this year the coaching staff consists of members from the Executive Coaching Staff. These coaches include the Director of Coaching, Al Cousineau, our Technical Director, Coach Moe, and our Girl's Director of Coaching, Lindsay Wicher. These elite coaches will personally train all players involved with each training session.

Below you will find details about registration and other information about the programs.

Space is limited, so register early!

If you have any questions about the camp, please contact Al Cousineau at DOC@NewportNewsFC.com or by phone at 757-753-3968.

We look forward to having your child join us!

Standings will be updated and posted weekly.

2014-2015 Winter Camp Overview

For the past decade, the NNFC Winter Camp has provided players of all age levels the opportunity to improve under the guidance of our Director of Coaching, who is a former Olympic Development Program Coach, a nationally certified NSCAA Instructor with over 15 years of professional youth soccer coaching experience. The Winter Camp is designed specifically to focus on individual player development. Since there is no pressure of having to prepare for games, every coach focuses exclusively on personal player development. This year's camp is no different, the goal is for every participant to leave a better player for attending.

The main difference between this camp and others, is how we structure training sessions each and every night. For example, the players will rotate between all three camp coaches, and at each station exposed to high level training activities developed to improve them as individual players in extremely specific areas of the game. In this training evnironment, players can focus on improving their individual skills and decision making, which is what creates confidence and ultimately sets players apart from others, especially as they grow.

The Newport News FC Winter Camp Program is open to NNFC members and players of all age levels.

Every year the camp has grown and players are grouped by team and or ability level, so they have a chance to play against players that will challenge them, but still give them a chance to improve.

Winter Camp Parent Information

Aside from the first night, typically parents drop off players similar to a normal team training program and pick them up when we are finished. Attendance at every session is not required, but it is highly recommended. Players should come prepared to play outside, dressed in layers with gloves, a hoodie, age appropriate ball, and plenty of water. We only cancel sessions if the wind chill drops below freezing or if it rains. Any cancellation decisions are sent by e-mail no later than 4:30 PM on the day of the session, so it is important to provide all e-mail addresses that you want to receive camp updates on. As you will see from the calendar, we take off for the holidays. All players who aren't members of NNFC must bring a camp waiver with them to the first night of camp. We reserve the right to dismiss players for disruptive behavior with no refund, but we don't anticipate this to be an issue.

Again, if you have any questions regarding the Winter Camp please contact our NNFC Director by e-mail at DOC@NewportNewsFC.com or by phone at 757-753-3968.
