New Coaches
The Club actively recruits coaches throughout the year. We offer our head coaches and assistant coaches highly competitive compensation packages. For information contact the DOC@newportnewsfc.com.

All Coaches are required to conduct training sessions using the guidelines of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and the United Soccer Federation.

Sample Technical Training Session Outline (Ball Skills)

  • Warm Up - Related to Topic to be covered.

  • Activity One - with no defensive pressure

  • Activity Two - with increased defensive pressure

  • Activity Three - with full defensive pressure

  • Activity Four - Game Play where emphasis is placed on performance of practiced skill.

  • Cool Down - Stretching and Session Review

Sample Tactical Training Session Outline (Decision Making)

  • Warm up - Related to topic to be covered.

  • Activity One - goal to perform tactic without direction

  • Activity Two - provide direction with tactic

  • Activity Three - add small goals

  • Activity Four - add full size goals and goal keepers

  • Cool Down - Stretching and Session Review

WARM-UP EXERCISES
Here is a link to a free download from the FIFA site. It has a color poster, cards, and video of a recommended warm up routine for practices. There is a beginner, intermediate, and advanced level of the warm-up. There is even a research study using the exercises in Europe, and injuries were decreased by 50%.

CONTINUING EDUCATION
